EDI DOCUMENT TYPES AND FORMATS

EDI DOCUMENT TYPES AND FORMATS

Generally speaking, NxM supports all ordinary business-document formats and types in 365 Business Central and Dynamics NAV.

The scalability of our solutions and simple upgrades make NxM EDI a safe choice. With a few adjustments to the NxM EDI set-up, we can create new types of formats for users in need of a non-standard format, add new types of documents and new types of communication.

EDI formats

The core of NxM EDI comprises a universal integration for all incoming and outgoing documents to/from NxM Cloud Service which handle conversion, receiving and forwarding of documents.

Document formatting adheres to EDIFACT, X12, UBL, HANCOM, XML, PEPPOL, EHF, OIOUBL and many other formats.

The manual processing of documents is shared in different ways via the above formats, and the results are almost identical.

The essential features are to prevent typing errors, reduce manual processing, speed up the process and provide better customer service.

NxM EDI’s installation costs quickly pay for themselves at almost all undertakings as the solutions streamline and automate many manual input tasks.

OIOUBL

OIOUBL is a standard Danish format used in the sharing of EDI with the public and private-sector undertakings. The OIOUBL format is the only option for sending and receiving EDI documents to and from public-sector undertakings in Denmark.

EDIFACT

EDIFACT (Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) is the sharing of data in a structured format. The compatibility of EDIFACT (or EDI) makes it the most widely used format for sharing electronic documents between trading partners. As the format is an international standard, it allows data to be shared across borders.

X12

X12 is a US format that resembles EDIFACT in many ways. The format is slightly more complex to use than EDIFACT, however. X12 is supported by NxM Cloud and can also be installed locally.

XML

XML (Extensible Mark-up Language) is a way to structure data by means of field specification. XML provides an open source format and mechanisms that can structure a file. OIOUBL and EHF PEPPOL are examples of an XML format that has been enhanced with a named set of rules.

HANCOM

HANCOM is a standard Danish sub-format of EDIFACT, which was one of the first standard formats. The need arose from the retail sector and their purchases.

EHF

Like Denmark’s OIOUBL, EHF is a standardised electronic commerce format that is used for sharing EDI documents with Norway’s public sector. The format has more limitations compared to XML and EDIFACT.
